Gracie Long

Gracie Long

July 16, 2007 ~ August 30, 2011

With beauty and elegance her name said it all..."Gracie." Born on July 16, 2007 she came into this world with so much love, care and affection for her owners. From the day Shelly, Alyssa and I brought her home on September 1, we gave her all that she came to give to us. When we went to pick her out she was the last puppy in the litter and now we know the saying "save the best for last" is true.

From that first day in September until her last, she just had to snuggle up to something. Whether it be the legs on the kitchen table, the large rocks we have in our landscaping, or our feet. She always had to be touching us, showing her affection and loyalty to her family. We always had smiles on our faces when we would come home just knowing that she would be on the other side of the door waiting to greet us with a stuffed toy in her mouth. Most of the time it was not one toy, but two or three! She wanted us to be proud of what she could accomplish. We couldn't be more proud of everything she did for us. She brought so much joy, laughter, love and memories in a short period of time.

Gracie was diagnosed with malignant melanoma (a type of skin cancer) on June 25, 2011. We were going to do whatever we could to help her beat this horrible disease. After many visits to her vet, MSU and three surgeries, Gracie lost her battle on August 30 and she was barely 4 years old. She came into this world showing her unconditional love and she continued doing that until her last day.

Gracie, we love you unconditionally and will always protect, care for you and keep you comfy. Until we meet again at Rainbow Bridge we love and miss you tremendously, Our Sweet Gracie Girl.

Good morning Sweet,
I miss our sharing of popsicles, but now I always leave one bite for you; especially the pink ones because those were your favorite. I also miss sitting on the couch with you while we watch our shows. You're always in my thoughts and I miss you terribly. Mommy loves...

We will miss so much about Gracie. We will miss not having her here at our house for family get togethers or holidays. We will especially miss babysitting for her while Bryan, Shelly and Alyssa are away on vacations.
We will miss our walks with her. We will miss her laying at our feet or sitting on the couch relaxing with us at the end of a day while staying with us.
She was a sweet, sweet girl. Forever in our hearts...........
Special hugs and kisses from Grandpa..........

P.S. Guinn misses you too sweet girl!!!!

Hi Sweet,
I just wanted to let you know that Daddy placed your rock under your favorite shade tree. It looks beautiful and is the perfect spot. We could always find you laying under it whenever we were outside. I miss your company so much every day.

Hi Sweet,
I just wanted to say good morning and have been thinking of how much you would love the weather these days. The nights have been perfect ones for a walk with you. It is autumn now and some of the leaves have been falling from your tree. I'm getting ready to put the Hallo-dis-ween decorations out and found your ghost. I will put him in a special place just for you so he can watch over us, like I know you are. I miss you so much sweet girl.

Hi Sweet,
Daddy and I put out the Hallo-dis-ween decorations and I found your little witch hat. Mr Ghost is now wearing it and it looked better on you for sure! Mr Boo Man is also displayed on my plant shelf looking over all of us. I have had a hard past few days without you sweet. I wish I could just pet you or feel you by my side. Here is praying that you come visit my dreams tonight. Mommy loves you always and misses you so much. XO

Good morning to you my sweet girl,
Happy Hallo-dis-ween! Today we'll have a rainy morning and then hopefully it will dry out for the kids. Your favorite part of today was always watching them; you loved the kids. I will take Mr Boo Man outside with me tonight so he can watch over us like I know you are. You were taken from us too soon but I know you are playing with Buffy until we meet again. Mommy loves...

Good morning Sweet girl,
We had the first snow last night and it was pretty. You always loved to lay in it and smell the wind of a million smells. You didn't mind the cold mornings; in fact, I think you loved them. I have been seeing Mr Bunny in the backyard too - he misses you chasing him. I got a charm for my bracelet with your name on it and it's PERFECT, just like you. I still can't believe you were taken away from us so soon. I love and miss you so much every day sweet.

Good morning Sweet,
This morning is not the same without you. You are not here to greet us with toys and you are not here to lay outside. It's the perfect morning for you to just lay under your tree and smell the wind of a million smells. It would be good smells today because it's Thanksgiving. Daddy will still watch the parade but will miss you at his feet (or up on the chair!) We miss and love you so much and just can't believe how soon you were taken from us. It's not fair but I will tell you one thing... I am most thankful for you and the time we spent together. I hold you close to my heart and think of you every day. I love you. XO

Good morning my sweet,
It is snowing today and that makes me think of you. You would love to go out and run in circles in the backyard as fast as you could! Christmas was not the same without you. Daddy and I got calendars made for each other with your pictures on it. I have mine at work with me and Daddy will put his downstairs. Grampa dearly misses you too Sweet; he so loved you and your company. You are forever in our hearts - I love you.

Good morning sweet,
We are in February and we have not had much snow. I remember how you loved to lay out on the deck when there was snow on the ground and the sun in your face on a warmer winter day. I also have some news that we adopted a brother and sister for you. They are both 7 years old and have been together all of their lives. They are doing well for now and are enjoying a new forever home. You are always in my heart and will never be forgotten. I miss you and love you so much.

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to that baby dirl - Happy Birthday to you! We are remembering what a sweet sweet you were and how much we love you today; it would be your 5th birthday. I remember the first day we brought you home and you went to lay out by Daddy's dirt in the backyard. I have the video of him throwing you in the air and catching you! You were so much fun and you always did something cute to make us laugh. Sweet memories are all we have of you and we cherish them every day. Thank you for coming into our lives. We miss you terribly but love you so much more.
My sweet Gracie Lou,
It has been one year since you left us and it still breaks my heart. I think about you and how unfair this was. We only got to share 4 wonderful years with you. I'm so sorry cancer took you from us.

Every time I see your picture I sit back and think about our fun times! I remembered how you would love to play on the floor with Daddy and call him out every night for it! I would always tell him you were going to "pounce" him coming down the hall and then try to "crab" his legs! It was so much fun watching you and him play together. I know he misses that.

Please know how much we all love and miss you. You were the perfect dog.

Good morning Sweet,
Today is a tough day for me to write to you. I know you were probably busy meeting Guinness at Rainbow Bridge this morning. Do you remember how much you stayed with Grammy & Grampy and played with him? Well now you have an old friend to keep you company. Make sure you stick together! You are both sick no more and able to run and play together again. I know you will take good care of him. Mommy loves you sweet girl.

Good morning Sweet Gracie,
I just wanted to say hello and keep you up to date on what has been going on around home. Guess what? Gramy & Grampy got a new best friend and his name is Oscar! He is so cute and is about 10 weeks old. He came over to meet us last weekend and Lola just loved him. Chewy; not so much. He just went into the other room and didn't pay him much attention. I have been thinking about you and missing you lately. I have some videos that I watch of you and want to get them out this week. It will do me some good to be able to see you again. I know Daddy, Alyssa and Grampy misses you too. He mentioned to me yesterday how much of a great dog you were and he is right! YOU ARE THE BEST! I miss and love you so.... XOXOXO
